Sonic the Hedgehog Games

Sonic the Hedgehog games

Sonic The Hedgehog is easily Sega's most successful character ever devised. Since his innocent beginings on the Sega Master System in June 1991 Sonic has featured in a whole host of games and a large variety of consoles. He has also spawned a popular comic book collection and even four animated television shows.

The first Sonic the Hedgehog game had a cute plot where Sonic had to rescue all the captured animals from Dr Robotnik who had trapped them all in various containing devices - about as much as you need to know about this simple storyline. Sonic navigated through various zones defeating the Doctor at the end of the final stage of each one and then freeing some of the captured animals. At the end of each final stage Dr Robotnik would appear with a new ingenius device to try to stop Sonic from freeing his friends. Sonic's life force was the golden rings you collected. In Sonic 2 you would use these gold ring collections to eventually unleash Super Sonic - a white super version of Sonic who was almost invincible and moved at the speed of lightning.

Other titles worthy of mention in the collection are Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (this writer's favourite), Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed and Sonic the Black Knight only on Nintendo Wii.

There are millions of Sonic fans all over the world so it was no surprise when a Sonic The Hedgehog Flash game appeared up on the internet. The developer who is clearly a big fan of Sonic has managed to pull off quite the replica of the original game and it is some achievement to design a flash based game that resembles the original game so closely. Flash Sonic has scored an average of 91% on Y8, 4 out of 5 Star's on Newgrounds but only 2.8/5 on Kongregate - quite the mixed bag of reviews from fans.
